Twelve Makers, One Specification

In 1944 the British Ministry of Defence issued a single specification to twelve Swiss watchmakers, so that every watch in the field read the same way: enlarged numerals, a small subsidiary seconds dial at 6, luminous minute and hour hands.

MERVALTO carries that layout in a 38 mm brushed case - neither bulky nor undersized, and sized for small, medium and average wrists.

Bold printed Arabic numerals with a minute track around them, and a small-seconds sub-dial at 6 so you can see the watch is running.

The hour and minute hands are luminous for dim light. Nothing else is printed on the face - no brand, no wording. Hardlex glass over a brushed alloy case, stainless steel caseback.

OLIVE GREEN, AND FIVE MORE

The olive green nylon is the one this page leads on - a black dial on a woven green strap, the colour the 1944 issue watches were worn on.

Black, white or green dials, matched with black, khaki, green or navy woven nylon straps - six combinations in all. The strap is a 20 mm slip-thru length of ballistic nylon webbing on a buckle clasp: breathable, sweat-resistant and easy to swap. 265 mm long, made for a wrist of 150 to 215 mm.

The warranty on our watches is two years from the date of shipment. It does not cover any damage on any part of the watch resulting from abnormal use, lack of care, negligence, accidents, incorrect use of the watch and non-observance of the directions provided by Martin Duval.

How do I know the MERVALTO will fit my wrist?

These are the MERVALTO's own measurements:

Wrist range - the strap is made for a wearing circumference of 150 to 215 mm.
The strap - 265 mm of 20 mm woven ballistic nylon, slip-thru, on a buckle clasp. You set the length at the buckle, so there are no links to remove and no tool to use.
The case - 38 mm across, a middle size that suits small, medium and average wrists.
